About Us

Colorado Feedlot Horses was launched in 2014 primarily to provide a networking opportunity for horses located on local Colorado kill pens and hope that someone may want to take a chance on them. In 2014, through social media networking we saved roughly 1500 horses (directly from the kill pens and place in private homes immediately), and in 2015 we were able to place over 5000. Out of this arose the need to become a more long term rescue facility as many of our followers wanted to help financially but could not take on a horse of their own. We started the “Rehoming Program” towards the end of 2014, providing a place for those horses that needed a place to be evaluated and cared for until a long term placement could be found. With that advancement grew the ability to provide a place where people from all walks of life are welcome to just come spend the day with a horse, providing the best therapy that money doesn’t have to buy. We currently house horses in two facilities, one in Loveland, Colorado and one in Brighton, Colorado.

Mission Statement

To provide a safe haven and placement opportunity for horses in immediate risk of going to slaughter. By providing a social media outlet for them to be networked to the general public we strive to continue to place as many horses as possible into private homes. We also provide a rescue home for those horses who are “donated” to us by either private donations or by surrender via private owners. Our ultimate goal is to be able to give these equines a second chance at finding a loving home where the risk of going to slaughter will no longer be an option for them.
